Volunteer Jobs

Want to lend a hand? We welcome your help!

Grandview Skating Club (GSC) is a nonā€profit, volunteer-run club. All club operations, except coaching, are carried out by parent volunteers and skaters. Volunteer work is essential to the quality and success of our club.

A  list of current volunteer opportunities is available through the link below. Everyone is welcome to volunteer, regardless of the program you are taking.  If you have other ideas of ways to help, we'd love to hear them!

We look forward to seeing all of you at Trout Lake Rink soon! If you have any questions, please contact one of the Board members
and thank you for being a member of the Grandview Skating Club!

In order to encourage volunteer participation, GSC has a Volunteer Bond for STARSkater families. CanSkater, CanPower and STAR 1 families are very welcome and encouraged to lend a hand, even without a Bond.

Families of STARSkaters are required to contribute eight (8) hours of volunteer time during the current skating year. (September to August). After completing your eight hours the $125 will be refunded back to your family. The volunteer bond is due upon registration. The volunteer bond and hours will be prorated mid-year:
• January: Six (6) hours / $75
• March: No requirement

If you do not want to volunteer and prefer to pay the bond outright, please let a member of the Board know and your money will be deposited into the club account.

Most volunteer jobs do not require any prior experience: decorating, giving out brochures, music playing, or selling items at the concession,  while your skaters are on the ice. Volunteering is a great way to learn about the sport, see how the club runs and meet other members. With more members involved, we are able to do more to enhance your child’s experience here.

Please note that it is the responsibility of skating families to ensure that they provide a valid email address and fulfill the minimum volunteering hours. We will endeavour to record all volunteer hours and would appreciate our member families to inform us should they notice any discrepancy. Our goal is to maintain a stable source of volunteers to run the club. What we ask is your commitment as parents and guardians to make skating with Grandview Skating Club an enriching experience for your skaters.

Mission: The Grandview Skating Club encourages skaters, in all aspects of skating, to achieve their potential in a fun, supportive community.
