Program Description:
CANSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. When you sign up for CANSkate you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development.
Celebrating Skate Canada’s CANSkate program, GRANDVIEW SKATING CLUB offers expert coaching, more hands on instruction with higher ratio of program assistants to skaters. Skaters will earn badges and other incentives as they learn fundamental skating skills such as balance, control and agility that pertain to hockey,ringette, speed skating and figure skating.
The result is a dynamic program that prepares allskaters for virtually every ice sport.
 
SPECIAL EVENT DAYS: October 27,Halloween skate, December 15, Skate with Santa.  There will be no formal lessons on these dates.

Program Description:

To be eligible for our STAR1 Program the skater must be assessed by one of our professional coaches.  Upon their recommendation, the skater may then register for this session. Please email the Club to arrange for an assessment.

 Skaters will be introduced to jumps, spins, edges, footwork, dances and skills.  We try to maintain small classes to allow for individual attention.  Sessions are a minimum of twice a week with sessions consisting of on-ice lessons  and off-ice enrichment.  STAR 1 includes flexibility training, stretching, body awareness and conditioning exercises.  Precise muscle area workouts are designed to enhance personal development in figure skating.

Monday sessions are Off Ice from 4:30 - 5:00 pm and On Ice form 5:15 - 6:00pm; Saturday sessions are Off Ice from 9:15 - 9:45 am and On Ice from 10:00 - 10:45 am 

 Note: We must have a minimum of 3 skaters for the Off-Ice portion of the class. Skaters may be offered the option of joining another off-ice class.

The Skate Canada CANPOWERSkate program is for those who are aspiring to be or currently play hockey or ringette and wish to improve the quality of their skating. Taught by Skate Canada certified CANPower instructors. Students must be at minimum Stage 3 and up for entry to program.
