STAR 1

To be eligible for our STAR1 Program the skater must have strong forwards and backwards skating, be confident performing skills on one foot and be able to stop on command. Entry to the program can be through our CanSkate program or an assessment by one of our professional coaches.  Upon their recommendation, the skater may then register for this session. Please email the Club to arrange for an assessment.

Program Description:

Skaters will be introduced to jumps, spins, edges, footwork, dances and skills.  We maintain small classes to allow for individual attention.  Two sessions a week are required consisting of on-ice lessons and off-ice training when available.  STAR 1 off-ice includes flexibility training, stretching, body awareness and conditioning exercises.  Precise muscle area workouts are designed to enhance personal development in figure skating.

Things to know before coming to the rink:

  • If you cannot make a class, please notify the club or skating director as early as possible, however, NO make-up lessons can be offered for missed classes.
  • Skaters must bring their own skates, skate guards, helmets (optional at this level) and gloves.
  • Skaters must bring their own labeled water bottle.

Some notes about fees:
  • Annual Skate Canada fee of $58.65 will be applied at checkout.
  • Fees MUST be paid before skaters step on the ice.
