CANSkate Registration

Program Description:
CANSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. This program focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development.  Celebrating Skate Canada’s CANSkate program, GRANDVIEW SKATING CLUB offers expert coaching and a high ratio of program assistants to skaters. Skaters will earn badges and other incentives as they learn fundamental skating skills such as balance, control and agility that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating. The result is a dynamic program that prepares all skaters for virtually every ice sport.

Skaters new to Grandview will be assessed at the beginning of each session and placed in the appropriate level.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our regular operations have changed. Please read the notes below and thank you for your patience as we work together to keep skating a fun and safe activity.

Before you register please note:
  • Currently, skaters living outside the Vancouver Coastal Health Region are not allowed to register for classes at the Grandview Skating Club.
  • Skaters must be able to skate (or walk) forward on the ice, get up unassisted after falling, and use the washroom on their own.
  • Skaters aged 22 and above are not currently permitted to skate on group sessions.

Things to know before coming to the rink:

  • Skaters must bring their own skates, helmets and gloves.
  • Skaters should arrive at the facility dressed and ready to go.
  • Please proceed to the rink doors and follow signage. There will be a volunteer present to conduct a verbal Covid screening questionnaire.
  • The facility will open the doors 10 minutes prior to the start of the session.
  • Currently, NO family members will be permitted inside the facility to assist with tying of skates.
  • There are no spectators permitted inside the facility.
  • Skaters must bring their own labeled water bottle, there will be no access to water fountains.
Some notes about fees:
  • The online invoice will automatically add $43.65 Skate Canada Fee for any new skaters.
